Do you work with this guy?  Everyone does.

He's the guy in the office that loves the sound of his own voice.  Whether he's locked in a heated discussion about last night's game,  or on the phone with a client, you can hear every single word.  And you can hear him no matter where you are, and no matter how hard you try to drown out the sound of his voice.  He takes every call on speaker phone, with the volume turned up full blast.  It doesn't matter if it's a personal call.  He loves for people to overhear the intimate details of his personal life.

Tips for Dealing with Loud Talkers

  1. Avoid him, if you can.  Limit any opportunity for him to engage in another conversation.  Maybe he'll shut up if he runs out of people to talk to (right?)
  2. Buy some headphones.  Odds are that you'll still be able to hear the windbag, but his voice might go better with a little Maroon 5.
  3. Close your office door (if you have one).  If he's really on your nerves, symbolically slam your door in a passive aggressive fashion.  That will show him.
  4. Casually ask him to "turn down the volume".  Do this only as a last resort.  Odds are that he'll be clueless as to why you're asking him.
